Though I'm hot together we burn it up

Some of my talismans. After the exoskeleton ring, I bring you the bright and shiny, two-finger knuckle duster ring, by Made Her Think and little bat and skull amulets, by Aurélie Bidermann.

The bat and skull fell off in the shower in Cornwall, so I haven't worn them in a while and I'm going to have to re-thread them. I'm thinking barbed wire, so they never come off again.

The talon ring is practically soldered to my finger.

I am the gentle autumn rain

I love everything about Norwegian Nikoline's flickr. Except maybe the fact she's only 17.

In other flickr news, I found this picture again.

Every time I close my eyes it's you

Possibly the best name for a website in recent history:
Fuck Yeah Johnny Depp.

I've always loved this series of Johnny Depp and Kate Moss by François-Marie Banier. The last photograph is with Vanessa Paradis and the kids - really nice picture of profiles and shadows.

I could call you dammit it's a one in a million

Friends don't always tell you everything, neither does family, but Aaron Zinman's Metropath(ologies) might. It turns the internet inside out, hunting for occurrences of the name you enter into the search box, then charts its results neatly at the end.

It's not entirely accurate, as I'm fairly sure my dad never traveled to San Fransisco to rob the Bank of America in 1961. If it is true, though, Matt is apparently the most promising quarterback of Baton Rouge and James was sent to the slammer for stealing a pair of shoes.

Despite the fact my parents failed to make me Japanese, at least they were forward-thinking in picking a name - Mertropath(ologies) comes up with only relevant things.

Steadily emerging with grace

Barcelona brings it, in the shape of Sandra Suy. Like Francois Berthoud and Garance Doré's illustration love child.

But it's not forever

Cannot, for the life of me remember where the first two illustrations are from. The bottom two are by Ana Laura Perez. Love the last one, looks like a sleepy samurai.

Oh baby that's what I like

I first read about Albam in Monocle and it was an instant hit.

Saw it recently featured on Selectism too. Everything is beautifully made and just the right side of nautical.

If I ever wake up a dude one day I'm heading straight to Beak Street to get kitted out.

Don't knock it you've been here before

And I thought I was championing it for nerds.

Mama said the pistol is the devil's right hand

I was reminded of Robert Longo's oversized drawings of handguns, Bodyhammers, by this head-on shot of a motorcycle from the new issue of Rojo.

In 1994's Issue 14 of Frieze Collier Schorr likens them to Vargas girls, "legs for miles and just a peek underneath the hood".

Longo has been a massive favourite of mine since I saw his Men in the Cities way back when, so when YES Studio used them for Maximo Park, naturally, I had one of those "I wish I'd done that" moments.

He's down with the cool cats all over the internet - his studio was recently shot by The Selby (power shots, as usual) and by Olivier Zahm for Purple.

If you're currently in the Old World, he's showing at the Galerie Saks in Geneva and at the MAMAC in Nice.
