I fell down in the desert baby

Threadless is always good for the t-shirt hungry. There is often a strong dweeb vibe, one that I particularly enjoy is the design for the Ketchup & Mustard t-shirt by Alex Trochut:

This design was up for rating and I hope it gets printed because it's awesome.

I saw it on It's Nice That.

I'm back, back in the New York groove

Carin Goldberg has got it going on.

Along with Jason Munn and Aesthetic Apparatus, the work is just gorgeous.

I can't remember where I looked her up from, but seeing this, it was probably New York Magazine.

Down to the general store for nothing specific

Notebooks are what I'm all about. Seriously, I would spend a million years doing research for each project if I could.

From the ether I found a blog called Notebookism. I thought it would be full of pictures of people's notebooks, in the way that Inspiration Boards is self-explanatory, but no.

Notebookism is ok. They love Rhodia pads, bonus, and Moleskine, who doesn't, but imagine if they had pictures of people's handwriting - fascinating! Still, props for mentioning Clairefontaine.

Note, jot, plan.

The Dolphin Studio has a great calendar for 2008. The New York Times raves about it, "every gifter becomes a giftee". It describes it as infectious, which it totally is, by the look of things.

If you had the same reaction as I did, don't bother, they're sold out.

Minuit

Ongoing idée fixe: neon lights in the dead of night (other obsessions include spirographs, felt tip pens and marzipan).

Here are some pictures of shopfronts I took a while back in Brooklyn.

And one I took in Paris with Jérémie:

Are You Rock or Disco

I just ordered two posters by Jason Munn which I am ecstatic about.

So geometric, so screen-printed metallic, so exciting.

I love you, you pay my rent

A long overdue, big shout out to Ned, Marcus and Gareth at New Future Graphic who are such great tea-chugging, dart-chucking, cookie-chomping champions of graphic design and a complete pleasure to work with.

Give me your eyes, I need sunshine

Linked from Refinery29, I fell upon work by Alyson Fox. Really lovely photography and illustration.
But, no heads?

Catch My Disease

Etsy, the Second Coming:

I got way too excited about these red shoes. The illustration is by Susie and the cards were made using Gocco, which, the more I hear about, the more I want.

Other Gocco goodness (terrible alliteration):

And just to fuel my spirographic obsession:

Soft and Warm

It's December and I'm hemorrhaging money because of Christmas, and because of Etsy.

Etsy is a wonderful place where a lot of things are my kind of thing, such as this truly terrific laptop case by Working Class Heroes.

Geek attack. But handmade in Austria.

First We Take Manhattan, Then We Take Berlin

Going through millions of bookmarks recently I found this one for Maptotes again.

The good thing about a forgotten bookmark is that by the time you find it again, new stuff has probably been added, as it was with this site where they've added new cities. Love it.

Inspired By True Events On Movie Screens

The video for the new song by The Teenagers, Starlett Johansson, is not as funny as its lyrics, but does remind me of the amazing opening credits Robert Brownjohn did for From Russia With Love.

I remember reading in an old issue of Dazed and Confused an article on Sofia Coppola where she states the opening shot for Lost in Translation was influenced by John Kacere's photorealistic paintings.

That in turn inspired a series of photos for Numéro Magazine, but I can't remember who shot it. Perhaps Solve Sundsbo.

Ain't Nothing Wrong With That

In case you weren't wasting enough time on Facebook, here's a place that will chart any website as a graph. Total geek alert, but total fun.

It shows the main page as starting point, then the plethora of links that branch off from it, and the links from those pages, and so on and so forth. This is what this blog looks like:

This is what Jack Siegel's impressive photography website looks like:

And here is the chart for the monster site that is Wikipedia:

A great couple of posts from Lesli Larson at Archival Clothing with these hilariously good pictures:

"Shopping From The Movies: Telephones"

Wonderful post titles too.

Your Face Or Your Kneecaps

Interesting article in New York Magazine about NY photographer Dash Snow: Warhol's Children: Snow, McGinley and Colen.

Also, Dash Snow, what a great name. Like Ace Norton.

Old work, same face

I haven't posted anything in ages, but it's almost September and time for new work. Meanwhile, a photo from last year.
