I've got a pocket full of pretty things

Along with pictures of people in water, I love pictures of people close to water. Lately I also love this blog, where I found these pictures by Alex MacLean. Very Gursky, very lovely.

Hair of Gold and Lips Like Cherries

I've been looking for 18" x 24" picture frames for a while now and it turns out it's a lot less fun than I thought it would be.

It started when I bought these prints by Jason Munn. Then I saw Claire Nereim's Seasonal Fruits of California calendar and rushed over to Etsy in a fever to click the trusted PayPal button.

With still no satisfactory frame to be found, I've tacked it to the wall opposite my bed so I can keep daydreaming of moving to San Fransisco, Sasek-style.

The other half's at the bottom of the sea

I love pictures of people in big stretches of blue water, graphically I love the watermelon above all other fruits and vegetables and nobody hates naked people.
So immense joy was felt when I found this on New York Magazine's Art Candy.

I found it over at Dejour Magazine which, if you don't already know about, you'll love.

Walkin about with a head full of music

California wunderkind Ace Norton is all about fun and I am all about him.

He has directed a bunch of music videos like the hilarious new Sébastien Tellier song, a Coca-Cola advert, Chinatown by Tahiti 80, the horrifying Hustler by Simian Mobile Disco, Coffee for Aesop Rock and Find a Way by Smoosh. The Mountain Goats lead singer's face in their video for Sax Rohmer #1 is just about the funniest thing ever.

I remember seeing the Smoosh video almost two years ago and I'm still not over how cool his idea of steps as piano keys is.

Like Michel Gondry or Spike Jonze, it looks like he materialises what happens in his imagination and has a blast doing it. I could easily do that for the rest of forever.

En aparte, Sébastien Tellier kiffe sa vie, les Beach Boys et les concerts de NTM dans cette interview pour la Fnac.

We know we're gonna be up late

In case you weren't sure whether Kate Moss photographs well or not, here is something to look at.

Colour from Ryan McGinley, the rest from black and white hotshot Hedi Slimane.

Blue Jean Baby, LA Lady

Meg Mateo Ilasco is a designer, blogger and an author. The cards at the bottom are lovely, a little crafty and a little Saul Bass.

Hot cold season gonna sink in my sweat

Katherine Krause, co-founder of Dossier, said of Joan Didion's Slouching Towards Bethlehem:
"She makes me want to write more, smoke cigarettes, wear big sunglasses and drive fast".

Totally agree and I feel the same about Françoise Sagan.

I haven't seen or read Dossier but I liked this photo by Skye Parrott.

Great covers for this month's Wallpaper from Anthony Burrill.

I chose the beige one.

Here's a birthday card Dan made me last year.

I Rock This Beat You Know Damn Well

UVA are masters of light the way I like it; bright colours in the dark. The new work up on their website is just a exciting as the old stuff.

They did all the good bits from the Arctic Monkeys video for Brianstorm.

And many, many interactive installations like this one at the V&A.

Krunk'n'grime that's my bloodline

I just bought the latest issue of Acne Paper and if you haven't, you should. Mainly because it's beautiful, but also for the hilarious interview of German actor Udo Kier, just brilliant.
