I hop right into that car of mine and ride around the world

Today is Dan's birthday. Part 1 of the birthday present: wood block letters, initials DB/BD.

The monthly planner is from an incredibly useful russell+hazel template which I use obsessively.

The Traffic Starts Jumping

Rhian sent me the link to this photoset and I love it. My kind of thing.

All Decked Out Like a Cowgirl's Dream

We've all seen most of these before but it doesn't mean they've stopped looking good. And more importantly, Joseph Szabo is showing at Michael Hoppen until mid-September.

A westerly motion that moves California to sea

The word on the Brooklyn street is: check out the Selby.
No, sadly not that Selby.

I already loved the regular Selby, but I'm just obsessed with this new addition. I can't get enough of it, it's endless.

I've got a pocket full of pretty things

Along with pictures of people in water, I love pictures of people close to water. Lately I also love this blog, where I found these pictures by Alex MacLean. Very Gursky, very lovely.

Hair of Gold and Lips Like Cherries

I've been looking for 18" x 24" picture frames for a while now and it turns out it's a lot less fun than I thought it would be.

It started when I bought these prints by Jason Munn. Then I saw Claire Nereim's Seasonal Fruits of California calendar and rushed over to Etsy in a fever to click the trusted PayPal button.

With still no satisfactory frame to be found, I've tacked it to the wall opposite my bed so I can keep daydreaming of moving to San Fransisco, Sasek-style.

The other half's at the bottom of the sea

I love pictures of people in big stretches of blue water, graphically I love the watermelon above all other fruits and vegetables and nobody hates naked people.
So immense joy was felt when I found this on New York Magazine's Art Candy.

Walkin about with a head full of music

California wunderkind Ace Norton is all about fun and I am all about him.

He has directed a bunch of music videos like the hilarious new Sébastien Tellier song, a Coca-Cola advert, Chinatown by Tahiti 80, the horrifying Hustler by Simian Mobile Disco, Coffee for Aesop Rock and Find a Way by Smoosh. The Mountain Goats lead singer's face in their video for Sax Rohmer #1 is just about the funniest thing ever.

I remember seeing the Smoosh video almost two years ago and I'm still not over how cool his idea of steps as piano keys is.

Like Michel Gondry or Spike Jonze, it looks like he materialises what happens in his imagination and has a blast doing it. I could easily do that for the rest of forever.

En aparte, Sébastien Tellier kiffe sa vie, les Beach Boys et les concerts de NTM dans cette interview pour la Fnac.

We know we're gonna be up late

In case you weren't sure whether Kate Moss photographs well or not, here is something to look at.

Colour from Ryan McGinley, the rest from black and white hotshot Hedi Slimane.
